Breaking the Habit

Just curious, but do you ever tell your parents or other friends that you have a "social life" online?

The other day, I told my mother and my sister that. I told them that that was the reason why I am on the internet so much after getting into an argument with them. And that I lied about a few things about why I'm trying to send letters to friends that "I know". They suspected that I have been socializing on the Internet more than in real life, and that they are scared that I may be hanging out with the wrong crowd. I assured them that deviantART is, in general, not like Facebook, Myspace, or Youtube. My mom and my sister said that they were upset that I lied to them to cover up the fact that I do indeed talk to people that I've never met, but they do not mind now that I talk to you guys and trust every word that you write. I am older now, and I am smarter about the Internet than I was when I was about 11 or 12; I know what I am doing.
After that long talk, I got to tell them a little bit about you guys. Like the Rainbow Princess that brightens up our miserable days. And that awesome and helpful no-namer. And a friend who endlessly spams my inbox. And my bunkmate. And...well, I can go on and on.
I suppose that I don't have to spend endless hours on the Internet as much, although it is hard to break the habit
Maybe I should try socializing more with people now that I know what crowd I'm in.


Other than that, I'll be away for about two days to go the the beach. Starting tomorrow. I think that there's computers in the hotel, so I might be there to check messages
